TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – Members of a Tupelo civic club make a donation to help a school damaged by April’s tornado. Students and staffers from Joyner Elementary were on hand at the regular meeting of the Tupelo Rotary Club to receive a donation for school supplies and other materials and items lost in the April 28th tornado.

In all, the local Rotary Club, and Rotarians throughout District 68 have raised more than 30 thousand dollars for Joyner Elementary School. Organizers say it’s just one way to help a school that plays a vital role in the local community.

“So at our last board meeting last year, our last Rotary year, we decided we would put up 5 thousand dollars and the clubs could match it with another 5 and we presented it to the Tupelo Rotary Club for the Joyner Elementary School.”

Tupelo Mayor Jason Shelton was speaker at today’s Rotary Club Meeting.
