Video: Authorities Release Name of Nettleton Police Officer Involved in Yesterday’s Shooting

NETTLETON, Miss. (WCBI) — Authorities have released the name of the Nettleton police officer involved in yesterday’s midday shooting in the middle of downtown.

According to witness reports, officer Robert Davis fired shots at the suspect, killing him.

Monroe County Sheriff Cecil Cantrell tells us four men left United Furniture just before noon for their lunch break.

The men reportedly began arguing in downtown Nettleton, and one person was shot inside the vehicle, another on the street.

The suspected gunman was shot by officer Davis.

Monroe County Coroner Alan Gurley says 44-year-old Joseph Bass of Shannon, and 49-year-old Otis Eugene Bass, also of Shannon, were pronounced dead at the scene. 33-year-old Jamie Guin of Mantachie died at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo.

Mississippi Bureau of Investigations is handling the investigation.
