TUPELO, Miss.  (WCBI) — The contents of a city owned apartment complex in Tupelo will go on the auction block this weekend.

Earlier this year, the city of Tupelo purchased the Azalea Gardens apartment complex on Ida Street. The apartments had been vacant for more than a year after being deemed unsuitable for tenants.

On Saturday, the public can bid on items in the apartments, such as wrought iron rails, stoves, dishwashers, hot water heaters and other furnishings.

There are more than 100 apartments in the complex and each unit auctioned includes all contents. Those contents must be removed within seven days.

Eventually, the complex will be demolished. City leaders haven’t yet decided what to do with the property.
