COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI)-The Director of the Better Business Bureau spoke at the Columbus Rotary Club meeting Tuesday (1-22-13) and offered some tips about how we can all avoid the many scams devised to rip you off.

The Better Business Bureau provides information about marketplace fraud through alerts on scams to the public. The BBB works closely with local, state and federal law enforcement agencies, providing them with valuable information on potential frauds. They are often the first organization to know about a developing scam. Director John O’Hara says there are a few things people can do to avoid becoming a victim of fraud.

“Never wire money to someone you don’t know when you’re buying something if you’re buying something, say like Craig’s List or Ebay. Always use a credit card and not a debit card because you can’t get your money back once it’s gone,” says O’Hara.
