COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — Some of the brightest high school students from the state gathered at the MUW campus today. The Mississippi Governor’s School hosted a Leadership Dinner today as part of its 3-week honors program. Students convened in the Pope Dining Room to meet with prominent figures in the state including mayors, university deans and other leaders. High school student Zack Bailey said the event could serve as a boon to inspiring youth to remain in the state as they seek employment:

“Seeing all the — seeing like-minded students from around the state gives high school students, including myself, inspiration to stay within the state, and build something good within it.”

The summer program wraps up Friday, and will feature former Governor Ronny Musgrove and Education Policy Adviser Laurie Smith.
