COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI)-Saturday’s weather was perfect for a BBQ.

The Columbus Fairgrounds was full of professionals cooking up their version of the best BBQ in the South. States like Florida, Kentucky, Arkansas and many others are competing for the national championship title that will take them to the World BBQ competition in Las Vegas to compete against five other teams. One organizer says it’s not every day the best BBQ in the South is in your backyard.

“It’s a great weekend, super weekend, just glad it wasn’t last weekend and we got a good showing we got over 60 teams here and we are proud of what we got and Columbus should be proud of it,” says Paul Clardy.

The event also features a band that will start at 7:30pm and go through 11 Saturday night.
