ABERDEEN, Miss. (WCBI) — A shouting match between convicted child sex offender Dwight Bowling and two attorneys is the focal point of Bowling’s efforts to appeal his 50-year federal prison sentence.

After a half day of testimony today, U.S. District Judge Glen Davidson said he would decide in a few days on whether Bowling’s appeal can go forward.

Bowling says his court-appointed attorney, Christi McCoy, failed to meet his appeal deadline.

But McCoy testified Bowling fired her after a heated argument in August 2011, and that it was his fault he didn’t hire another attorney to appeal his case.

The former Smithville and Sulligent, Ala. football coach has pleaded guilty to federal and state charges of sexually assaulting teens.
