COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI)-What seats six men, costs nearly and a half a million dollars and is red all over? If you said the Columbus Fire Department’s new Engine 21, you are right on the money. The state of the art Pierce fire truck will be on duty for at least the next 25 years. If your home is on fire, you want this truck to respond, but an engine is only as good as its driver. This week the Columbus Fire Department is training its men on how to handle the big tanker. It’s a little bit larger than their old truck, and the front mirrors are in a different place. Fire fighters are taking to the parking lot near the Hitching Post Farmers Market to put their new truck through its paces.
