WEST POINT, Miss. (WCBI) – October is breast cancer awareness month and Magnolia Outpatient Rehab at its locations in Starkville, West Point, and Columbus are calling attention to breast cancer.

In West Point they wore pink Thursday (10/25), educating everyone about the second leading cause of death in women.

Early detection often leads to a 98 percent survival rate.

Jossetta Jefferson of West Point was first diagnosed with breast cancer in the 1970’s.

Jefferson is outspoken when it comes to her faith and her support group.

“I’m a survivor now and I tell everybody that you know everybody is scared of cancer and stuff. But its nothing to be scared of because everybody should know about cancer and the reasons, you know behind it,” said Jossetta Jefferson.

Jefferson was diagnosed with breast cancer for the second time in July of 2011.
