CALHOUN CITY, Miss. (WCBI) — World War II veterans in Calhoun City got special gifts — handmade thank you cards — from second graders at Calhoun City Elementary as part of Veteran’s Day ceremonies there.

Native son Mickey Wells who recently earned the Troops for Teachers state award also spoke of how the military turned his life around as a reckless teenager.

The ceremony ended with the annual laying of the wreath on the city’s war memorial.
