CALHOUN COUNTY, Miss. – (WCBI) Calhoun County students will be riding to school on new buses next year. Monday night, school board members approved five new buses for the school district. Those new rides will featured air conditioners.

Superintendent Mike Moore adds they hope the new buses are road ready by August 1st.

“The state of Mississippi gives teacher pay raises, and I’ve said once they get a raise we will raise everybody the four percent as they got. And we were able to do that; and that’s bus drivers, teacher assistants, because they all play such an important role in our schools,” says Moore.

Board members will vote on the proposed $21.2 million dollar budget at their next meeting.
