Video: Carver Students Hold a Hoedown

TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – Students at Tupelo’s Carver Elementary were able to dress up as cowboys and cowgirls, and take part in an old fashioned barnyard dance.

It’s part of a learning initiative based on the book,. “Barndance” by Bill Martin.Kindergarteners and first graders are taught rhythmic movement through dance.

They also take part in other assignments that help build teamwork and show them the importance of art and drawing.

Students have practiced for weeks for their routines.
