OKOLONA, Miss. (WCBI) — After three years of legal battles, the Chickasaw Board of Supervisors decides to pay cost damages to an Okolona construction company.

The board held a special meeting Thursday morning at the Okolona Court House, where they spent nearly two hours to make a decision.

The lawsuit began in 2012 after a county engineer’s miscalculations forced the Chickasaw County to underpay Ausbern Construction for the road updates for County Road 4.

The Chickasaw Board of Supervisor’s attorney says the settlement amount has yet to be determined.

“The judgement was for $387,000, but final judgement has not been entered at this time. There will be some issues about pre-judgment interest, attorney fees that sort of stuff that hasn’t occurred yet,” says Gary Carnathan.

The court also awarded Ausbern $182,500 from Chickasaw County’s Engineer.
