FULTON, Miss. (WCBI) -Junk yard in the front yard? Or a cottage industry promoting the small business guy?

” Nobody likes driving down the road and seeing 40 junk cars laying around in somebody’s yard. It is an eyesore.”

Fulton resident Tori Jarrett says some local property owners need to clean it up. City leaders agree.

A proposed ordinance would regulate the hoarding of “junk” vehicles and recurring garage sales.

If it goes through, Fulton residents can keep one ” junk” Vehicle, but you better keep it out of sight.

“We just want people to clean up and um to just help us with our effort to clean up our city.”

How do you know if your former classic car is defined as junk? If it doesn’t run and you can’t get an inspection sticker – it is probably a clunker.

The guidelines will also apply to boats, RVs, and camper trailers in an effort to clean up the city.

In addition, garage sales will be limited to once every 90 days and there will be a ten dollar permit fee.

The never ending yard sales are also effecting the local businesses.
“It takes away from the flea markets and the auctions that are in the area.”

And supporters like Tori say – the real purpose of the ordinance is to make sure property values don’t decline and the city is always looking good.
