COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – A moratorium on billboards may lead to some visual changes for Columbus area motorists. Tuesday night the City Council  postponed a revamped billboard ordinance after Lamar Signs, the company that owns many of the billboards along highways in the city, proposed negotiations. Those discussions could include new digital billboards for every two or three existing billboards the company removes. City leaders say they want to hear details before taking up lifting the current moratorium on new billboards. A proposed ordinance would allow the signs in highway commercial districts as long as they were not within a thousand feet of existing signs and were limited in size.
