COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — Columbus’s billboard ordinance could see changes in the near future.

The Columbus Billboard Committee met this morning along with Mayor Robert Smith to discuss billboard advertisements along Highways 45 and 82.

The committee will approach the city council Tuesday to voice their concerns on citywide billboards. Council members will decide whether to allow more billboards throughout Columbus.

Smith said many are concerned about the look of the city.

“The business within that ward thinks that it is enough signs as it is, and I would agree to a certain extent that we need to clean up some of the signs that’s already has been installed on Highway 45,” Smith said.

33 billboards are currently on display along Hwy 45, including LED signs.
