COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — The man accused of opening fire at a Columbus Fairgrounds graduation party is being held on a $1 million bond.

19-year-old Kale Scott made his first court appearance today. He is charged with murder.

Investigators believe Scott pulled out a gun and started shooting after an argument last Friday night.

21-year-old Devin Lamar Montgomery was hit in the back and later died. Another victim was hit in the leg.

Police say more charges are possible.

“It’s still an open case,” Columbus Police Department Investigator Kevin McCrary said. “We’re still looking at everything and putting everything together. So as we get to it, we will handle each and every situation that comes up.”

Thus far, Scott is the only person charged in the homicide investigation.
