COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — A Columbus food pantry has taken on the task of feeding the needy among us.

The Bread of Life Food Pantry operating under the umbrella of the Columbus Church of Christ began their extended ministry last April and were servicing about 39 families. With resources and a team of volunteers, they are now serving 400 families.

Low income and the elderly are able to pick up food stuffs every first and third Thursdays of each month.[

“At least one forth of the families in Mississippi are what we call food insecure. Hat means a forth of the children are going to bed hungry. So it is very necessary,” said Marie Polk/Bread Of Life Food Pantry.

Each time there is a distribution, between 20 and 25 new people are signing up for food pantry items.
