COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – Beautiful blue skies and the Tenn-Tom River were the back drop in downtown Columbus Saturday for the 6th annual Mayor’s Unity Picnic.

Catfish, with all the trimmings, live music, and family fun were all on the menu. Mayor Robert Smith says the idea is to bring city and county residents, from every background together for a day of fellowship. He believes having the event while tourists are in the city is another way to showcase Columbus.

“This is great for Columbus from a unity stand point that’s what it’s all about, where you can get together with friends and fellowship with friends, meet old friends, new friends and just have a great time,” said Mayor Robert Smith.

City and county businesses donated items to make the event a success.
