COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – One group is looking to advance the quality of life for African American males.

The Men of Color of Columbus is looking to form a nonprofit organization to further that initiative.

Monday night the group hosted a town hall meeting, where they discussed a plan of action for implementing program initiatives.

Among other things, topics discussed included a youth mentoring and life enrichment initiative, community volunteer initiative and workforce education enhancement initiative.

“This is just the beginning. Hopefully we’ll get people assigned to committees and in two weeks we will put all recommendations together and begin a long process. We didn’t get in this situation overnight, and it’s not going to be taken care of overnight.”

About 50 men showed up for the town hall meeting.
