COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI)-Martin Luther King Junior’s dream for equality encouraged some Columbus volunteers to giver their community a helping hand.

The United Way Community Volunteer Center teamed up with other groups in Columbus to help different organizations throughout the community such as The Boys and Girls Club.

Volunteers helped organize, paint and replace ceiling tiles at the Boys and Girls Club.

Many volunteers say they are excited to be a part of Dr. King’s dream, 50 years later.

“We’re all in this building together we’re doing things together. People that we don’t usually see on a day-to-day basis, but we’re here together doing something for a cause,” says Ashley Taylor.

“It feels so good to be a part of an organization that’s working together as a community,” says Eddy Scott.

Others volunteered at locations like The Palmer Home Thrift Store and The Salvation Army.
