COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — With the start of the school year around the corner, the Columbus Municipal School Board are checking items off the agenda.

Monday night, the board unanimously voted on the new school budget for the 2014-2015 school year.

The board also were addressed leaders from the First United Methodist Church in Columbus about providing 40 students with weekend meals through the Food Back Pack Program.

The program would benefit students at Franklin Academy by providing four ready-made meals for the weekend.

If approved, the program would begin at the start of September.
