COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — The Trotter Convention Center (TCC) in Columbus is showing signs of a bright, new makeover.

Contractors and city leaders say they still expect the $2.2 million renovation to be completed by the end of the year.

During a tour today, city leaders showed off new lighting, sound and video systems, floors, walls and other work that are part of the makeover for the downtown facility which has been the centerpiece of everything from small conferences to weddings and concerts for the last 30 years.

“We haven’t run into major issues, just a few items we have do and came about,” TCC Project Architect Major Andrews IV said. “We got it cleaned up, and it hasn’t thrown everything out of place or anything like that. We are still looking good on schedule and materials.”

The TCC already is booked for almost every weekend next year, starting in early January.
