CORINTH, Miss. (WCBI) — A Northeast Mississippi company is expanding operations and adding 50 jobs in the process. The Corinth-based healthcare firm had opportunities to move to another state, but chose to stay in the area.

This empty field will soon be a parking lot for 150 Avectus Healthcare Solutions workers and 50 new hires.

Mississippi Governor Phil Bryant joined company officials and other dignitaries for the expansion announcement. Avectus is moving from several small buildings into the former Chadco building in downtown Corinth.

The company has become a leader in coordinating third party liability and workers compensation accounts for hospitals and trauma centers. Avectus opened shop in Corinth seven years ago and quickly became a leader in their field.

“Their growth in this community over the last five or six years is nothing short of remarkable,” said Gary Chandler, of The Alliance for Alcorn County and Corinth.

As the company outgrew its current location, the search was on for a larger facility. There was talk of relocating to Colorado, but local and state economic development officials quickly got to work. Governor Bryant says it’s all part of a pro business climate throughout the state.

“We have a legal environment where companies like Avectus come in grow and expand so you generate an environment, not only the quality of life in a wonderful area like Northeast Mississippi and Corinth but a business environment where they can grow and make a profit and we’re for people making profits in Mississippi,” Gov. Bryant said.

The 33,000 square foot building doubles the space for Avectus employees and it puts everyone under one roof. Company officials say the decision to stay in Northeast Mississippi made sense.

“We’ve been able to grow and actually excel, being based in Northeast Mississippi and because of that we think there’s a lot of efficiencies, we have the best workforce in the nation and it’s fueled our growth, that has been the secret to our success, our workforce,” said Avectus CEO Tim Smith.

Now, design work will begin for the new headquarters. Avectus Healthcare Solutions should be in its new offices by next summer or fall.

The expansion represents a $300,000 investment.
