COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — Even with more than two dozen reports in a year, Columbus police say they’d rather try to help operators of the Club Heidi Ho clean up its act rather than shut it down as a nuisance.

Columbus Police Chief Tony Carleton says officers filed 28 reports last year, including 14 for drugs and others for assault and firearms.

In almost four years, the club has been responsible for 237 911 calls. The most recent was the New Year’s morning shooting death of 32-year-old Timothy Barker.

Club Owner Larry Golden says he plans to hire more security and do a better job enforcing rules. Golden added he wants to help.

Carleton says he’ll monitor progress and report to the City Council regularly.
