cell phone shootingSTARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) — Just before 2:30 Wednesday afternoon, two shots rang out at the Louisville Apartment Complex.
Witnesses stood by. Women and children cried. And there’s cell phone video that shows the entire incident.

This video also captures the last moments of 27 year old Tyrell Gillespie’s life.

Watch as two men get into what appears to be a fist fight. Moments later, another man approaches, opening fire.

Melissa Jones says she knew Gillespie for 15 years and watched it all happen.

“I was sitting on my front friend’s porch and he was talking to us. They hit him with a gun and shot him. Two times. They shot him in the stomach first and they shot him in the head,” said Jones.

Jones then ran for help. She says the fight stemmed from a disagreement that began Tuesday night.

“They call it dope. And they got mad at him and shot him, that’s the boy was trying to run him off the road,” said Jones.

Jones is heartbroken over what happened and is praying justice is served.

“I hate they shot him cause he got a one year old daughter. And whoever shot him they need to lock him up for life,” said Jones.

A family member on scene says one of the men involved turned themselves in. Right now police say they haven’t made any arrest.

Emerson Family School, which is located near the scene, was put on lockdown as a result of Wednesday afternoon’s fatal shooting.
