Deputy Clinton FraizerUNION COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — Fighting back tears, Union County Investigator Roger Garner remembers getting the terrible news.

“I was out and I heard the call on the radio that there had been an accident involving a patrol car. Myself and officer Anderson were the first ones on the scene, as far as law enforcement. And we knew it was bad,” said Investigator Garner.

Deputy Clinton Frazier was patrolling the streets of Myrtle, as he normally would be, on Highway 278 Wednesday Night when he hit an embankment. His cruiser flipped over. Frazier died at the crash. Now, the men and women at the sheriff’s department are coping with the loss of not just a co-worker, but a friend.

“I’ve talked with that man everyday for over 5 years. He was a good and loyal friend of mine. And he loved his community. He loved working at the Sheriff’s Office and helping folks. The community has lost a dedicated servant,” said Investigator Garner.

As difficult as this devastating loss is for deputies, Garner worries about Frazier’s wife and three daughters.

“They loved their daddy. And he loved them more than anything. The playing ball and dance class and going fishing and riding four wheelers and just being with them. He was so proud to be a daddy and he so loved those girls,” said Investigator Garner.

Law enforcement is similar to a brotherhood. Sheriff Jimmy Edwards says it always hurts losing a brother in blue.

“It’s a small department here, we’re all close knit, we loved him and he loved us. He loved doing what he was doing and protecting and trying to serve the citizens of Union county,” said Sheriff Edwards.

Deputies say Frazier’s legacy and selfless service will live on in the department.

“We can all be proud that he was here. And that we knew him. And we’ll continue to, because Clint will always be with us. From now on,” said Investigators Garner.

The Mississippi Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. No word on funeral arrangements.
