NOXUBEE COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — Two controversial Democrats can remain on local Democratic Executive Committees in two Northeast Mississippi counties.

The state Democratic Party Executive Committee reversed its August decision to remove Ike Brown from the Noxubee County Democratic committee and William Catledge from the same group in Chickasaw County.

The party originally acted based on a new state law and an attorney general’s opinion that said convicted felons can’t serve on county party committees.

Brown and Catledge have prior fraud-related convictions. But the state party now says it can only remove local committee members if they have been challenged and no one has challenged them.
