TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – Representatives with a Christian mission organization based in Tupelo believe the ebola outbreak could impact short term mission trips to some countries.
According to the World Health Organization, there are 13 thousand, 42 confirmed or suspected cases of the deadly Ebola virus in six countries. However, the number of Ebola cases in Liberia appears to be on the decline.

Global Outreach is a Christian mission group based in Tupelo and although the ministry has no staff in the hard hit areas, a spokesman believes there could be some effect on short term trips to certain countries.

“I think it will impact certain procedures, there’s going to be certain levels, extra layers of caution that people will be going through, we’re all learning through this process, but the bottom line is people are hurting and we need to do what we can to serve people around the world.”

Global Outreach has 245 missionaries serving in 45 countries.
