TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) — Musicians and singers are paying tribute to the original American Idol on the state’s most famous front porch. For years, musicians traveling to Tupelo have wanted to stop by Elvis Presley’s birthplace. Last year, several people began videotaping artists performing a song or two on the famous front porch. Those videos are being released online as part of an ongoing project called the “Birthplace Sessions.”

Rob Brandon of the Birthplace Sessions said, “We have had some local acts but what they are usually is bands touring through the area, we have bands like Lucero, last year, when Down on Main was here, Del McCoury was here and we had Del McCoury play on the porch and he actually did two songs he loved it so much so it’s really an exciting time.”

Right now there eight videos on the website.  More will be added in the coming weeks and as artists visit the area. For more information go to our website, WCBI.com.
