EUPORA, Miss. (WCBI)-One Eupora native is a personal Saint Nick for children in the community.

Gene Gladney is in the last stage of cancer. He was diagnosed last December with cancer of the bone marrow.

He spent thousands of dollars of his own money to provide several toys for children throughout the Eupora community.

One family member says he may be sick but that did not stop him from going shopping.

“He actually went out himself in a wheelchair in Champagne, Illinois and picked out all his toys himself and had him shipped here,” says Lenwood Gladney Jr.

“I was born and raised here, I know what it’s like. I got to a point to where I realized i had everything I wanted and so I didn’t care to be a millionaire so I just decided I wanted to do something nobody else has done,” says Gene Gladney.

Gladney says he is hoping it will be even bigger next year.
