ITAWAMBA COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI)-He was killed in the line of duty 46 years ago but that doesn’t mean Fulton and Itawamba County have forgotten what he and all who have followed mean. Itawamaba County law enforcement officer Marshall Phillips was killed answering a fight call in 1967. Tuesday, the community will honor Law Enforcement Memorial Day by holding a ceremony at his grave site in Fulton City Cemetery. The event will be one of several ceremonies held this week across the state to recognize the more than 160 officers who’ve been killed statewide. The ceremony begins at 5 p.m. The public is invited.
