Video: Family-Friendly Movie Premieres In Tupelo

TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) — It has been more than two years in the making, but “Summer Snow” is now complete and ready to be released.

The movie focuses on a young girl with a big heart, who makes a big difference through trials in her own family’s life.

The gist of the new film, “Summer Snow,” is simple – one life can make a big difference.

And that is exactly what Hallie Benson does.

After her mother passes away, her father struggles to keep life together for his family but with the help of his young daughter and their faith, they learn nothing is impossible.

“It would really change people’s lives, and some people could relate to this and its just a really awesome movie to see, its really sweet,” said Rachel Eggleston, who plays Hallie Benson.

Produced by American Family Studios, the director for the film says organization has come a full circle and now wants to encourage positive movies and television shows for families.

“Years ago when AFA was founded, they were kind of the immoral watch dogs of the world, and saying, ‘Don’t watch this, don’t watch this,’ and now over 30 years later, we are able to say here’s something you can watch,” said Jeremy White, film director.

White and his sister co-directed the film. The duo says they used many of their own life experiences to create Summer Snow.

“We had a lot of inspiration from our own family. It’s a story of a mother’s legacy. We have awesome parents who have poured into our lives. We drew a lot from our relationships there. Wrote it, really did co-write it together,” said Kendra White, Co-Director.

White wants people to watch the film to support family friendly movies.

“A wonderful family film and a faith based project, which is so important right now. We need something that we can bring our families to and that the whole family can go and enjoy a wonderful movie together,” said Terri Minton, who plays Susan Benson in the film.

Summer Snow will also premiere in Kentucky, where it was filmed. It will be released in the fall.
