LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI)-A Fourth of July celebration would be nothing without a huge fireworks display and nobody does it quite like the folks in Lowndes County and the Friendly City.

The Columbus Lowndes Convention And Visitors Bureau is teaming up with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Columbus Air Force Base to celebrate our nation’s independence with Fireworks On The Water.

“It will be another free event just as it was in 2009. And we’d like to invite everyone from the local community to come out and join us to celebrate our nation’s birthday,” said Jim Sears, Commander, 14th Flying Training Wing, CAFB.

“We love Columbus Air Force Base and anything we can do to support them and especially on the Fourth of July, I think its a wonderful time,” said Nancy Carpenter, Columbus/Lowndes Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Fireworks On The Water is usually a big event, drawing hundreds upon hundred of spectators to the East bank of the John C. Stennis Lock And Dam.
