TUPELO, MISS. (WCBI) – A former NFL football player is trying to help women better understand the game.
Reggie Jones, who played for the Cleveland Browns and New Orleans Saints in the early 1990s, was at Tupelo’s Barnes and Noble bookstore.
He signed copies of his book “Stilettos on Gridiron” The book is geared toward females as a way to explain the game of football to them.
Jones says it took him about two years to figure out the concept for the book. He says there hasn’t been a similar book written by any former athletes.
“When I played, high school , college and pro, 90 percent of my teammates, including myself, mothers never understood the game so I would say, on every team there is probably, on average, two mothers who knew very much beyond touch down and first down.
Quite often mothers didn’t know what position their kids played, so I knew that was a big market,” Jones said.
Jones is also a national motivational speaker. He plans three more books, the next one will encourage readers to develop a game plan to realize their dreams.
