Video: Former Southhaven Mayor Convicted of Embezzlement, Fraud

DESOTO COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — It’s a scandal that’s been brewing for years. Now, former Southaven Mayor and Congressional Candidate Greg Davis has been ordered to spend 2 1/2 years in prison.

Davis was convicted of embezzlement and fraud. A Desoto County judge gave him a 10-year sentence, but suspended 7 1/2 years.

Davis will be free on bond during his appeal.

He has proclaimed his innocence since the investigation began.

Prosecutors say Davis used city gas pumps to fill his personal vehicle while receiving a monthly mileage check.

The fraud charge stems from his purchase of a city-leased vehicle without permission.
