COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI)-The Iron Heart Gym in Columbus hosted the first burpee challenge Saturday to help raise funds for Palmer Home for Children.
For 30 minutes, four trainers from the gym had to complete as many burpees as possible. All guests had a chance to donate to the cause or sponsor one of the trainers at five cents per burpee. One of the burpee challenge participants says it is a way for the gym members to push their trainers for a good cause.
“Two birds with one store. Get the Palmer Home some recognition and get them as much money as possible for Thanksgiving and then let our members yell at us for a little while instead,” says Eric Birtley.
The group raised more than $5,000 during this event.
