LOUISVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) — Friends of Dean Park in Louisville are thanking those who helped clean up.

Commissioners and leaders held a fish fry for the Mennonites and the First Response Team of America.

Both groups were there days after April’s tornado helping clear trees and debris from the playground.

“The Mennonites have come and done some phenomenal work,” Friends of Dean Park President Richard Moncrief said. “They piled up the logs, smoothed down the stumps, pulled them up. I mean, just making the community feel like there’s hope.

The luncheon also kicked off a special project to renovate the Dean Park concession stand in memory of Ruth Bennett.

Bennett died saving the life of a 4-year-old during April’s tornado.
