TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) — Putting aside the bottom line to help victims from the tornado that hit Tupelo.

That’s what leaders at Fusion Hospitality did with a job fair today.

Comfort Suites and several other restaurants and businesses were damaged in last Monday’s tornado. That automatically left workers without jobs to return to the next day.

While today’s job fair was put together to help those workers displaced by the tornado, it was also an opportunity for other potential employees to see what positions are open in the hospitality industry.

“So many of the businesses are relevant to what we do. If we can help to place some of those people, either permanently or temporarily, while businesses rebuild, then that’s something we want to do to try and help the community and help these folks,” Alan Burns with Fusion Hospitality said.

“I went to school for Phlebotomy because I like working with people,” job applicant Lacey McKeown said. “I like healthcare, but it’s just not really for me. People don’t like me coming in with needles, so I want to be able to interact with people, have conversation, and see how their day is going and things like that.”

Company officials have not decided if they will rebuild the Comfort Suites. Fusion Hospitality owns eight hotels in Mississippi.
