TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) — Giant puppets took the stage for some elementary students in Tupelo today. The “Bits and Pieces Giant Puppet Theatre” performed the play “Three Billy Goats Gruff” for Pre-K through second grade students. Students were taken to Church Street School, where the performances were held. It was all a part of the Tupelo Public School District’s Arts Integration Program. This performance, by the group from the Gertrude Ford Center at Ole Miss, is meant to expose the kids to different forms of art and entertainment.

The purpose of the group is to create interest in the arts in children and also provide a way for them to express themselves in non traditional formats, rather than singing, dancing, clapping, making music, it is a way to expose them to various art forms and let them know you can be creative using multiple outlets.

Performances continue for several more schools on Wednesday.
