OXFORD, Miss. (WCBI) — The Oxford school district is looking to bring healthier meals to the cafeteria.

School officials are calling on local farmers in a 250-mile radius of Oxford to jump into a partnership with the focus of healthier, more natural meals for students in its Good Food for Oxford program.

Right now, officials are fielding interest in the program, requesting that interested farmers and cooperative programs submit a request for information (RFI) application.

The school district will look for whether the supplier can provide timely delivery, clean processing facilities and handling practices.

The deadline for RFI applications is August 29.
