CALHOUN COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – “We have things that you’re not going to see at any other haunted house,” said Sabougla Haunted House organizer, Stephen Faddock.

The Sabougla Haunted House has a spooky surprise around every corner. If you make it past the witches, zombies and clowns inside, then you will have to run from werewolves and scarecrows through another two acres of pasture.

“Some people scream in terror, some let an ugly word slip, we’ve had people literally fall on the ground and ball up and freeze. We had to stop everything and get them up. We have had some accidents, we’ve had people come out with wet pants, and we’ve had actors thrown up on,” Faddock recalled.

It takes a team of more than 70 people to pull off this haunted house outside Calhoun City. They are all volunteers. The non-profit Team Freakshow helps support it each year. The group starts planning in April, and building in August.

“I’m so appreciative of what these kids do. They’re so talented. We have carpenters, we have makeup artists, we have costume designers,” said organizer Deborah Moore.

“I like to make them scream. It’s what they came for,” said young actor Austin Faddock.

While the Calhoun County bunch is terrifying friends and families, they are doing it for a worthy cause. All proceeds go to a local family in need. This year it’s Cade Gray and his parents Jesslyn and Tyler. The 19 month old boy from Calhoun City was born premature at 26 weeks. He spent the first year of his life in the hospital. Now, Cade is home and growing, but suffering from chronic lung disease and on a ventilator.

“He’s crawling, doing everything doctors said he wouldn’t do. It just means the world to us. We couldn’t thank everyone enough. For them to choose us as their family this year is just a huge honor and blessing,” Jesslyn Gray said.

“If we can give them a little peace of mind, it’s worth it,” said Moore.

Sabougla Haunted House is located in Calhoun County, at 39 County Road 347. Follow the signs off of Highway 9. It will be open Halloween night and Saturday, November 1. The house opens at dark. Tickets are $10, and kids 12 years and under are $5. For more information visit their Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/SabouglaHauntedHouse
