WEBSTER COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI)-Webster County residents may get broader educational opportunities as early as this fall.

Holmes Community College is considering opening a branch on the campus of the former Wood Institute in Mathiston.

East Webster High is using the campus as a temporary home while its tornado-damaged school is being rebuilt.

That school is expected to open this fall, freeing up Wood Institute, which is owned by Golden Triangle Planning and Development District.

Webster is one of nine counties in the Holmes service area and school administrators say the campus would be a good way to serve students in its eastern areas.

Holmes already has branches in Grenada, Kosciusko and Ridgeland.
