HOUSTON, Miss. (WCBI) — Houston aldermen approve new fees for property owners who ignore the instructions of the town’s building inspector.

Code Enforcement Officer Dewayne Weaver is working to get property owners to clean up overgrown lots and repair safety violations in buildings and apartments. However, some owners have been ignoring his efforts.

There will now be a $25 fee if Weaver has to revisit a property.

The fee doubles for each additional visit. Penalties will be added to the property owner’s tax bill.
