WACO, Texas (WCBI) – The Houston High School Solar Car team has finished day 1 of the race to Austin, Texas. After completing the 4-day circuit race at the Texas Motor Speedway Tuesday, the Sundancer crew hit the highway on its 2-day journey to Austin, Texas.  Co-Captain Allyson Taylor said  Wednesday’s  155 mile, 8-hour drive to Waco, Texas went well.

The team spent some time scouting a stretch of road they would be driving, which she said helped them in the long run. Taylor said she and the team are fully prepared to complete Thursday’s journey.

“I hope tomorrow goes really well. It’s a shorter day for us tomorrow, so, I hope that we finish all of our miles,” said Sundancer team co-captain, Allyson Taylor. “If not, we’ll be OK with that, too. But I hope tomorrow goes as smoothly as today, because today’s been a dream as far as solar car racing goes.”

Thursday morning, the team will begin the remaining 130-mile stretch.
