STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) — With three weeks remaining, bidders haven’t yet show much interest in buying the existing Starkville city hall.

And what happens to the building may hold the key to whether Starkville aldermen bite the bullet and buy Cadence bank’s downtown headquarters for a new police center.

Sealed bids are due on city hall by Feb. 12.

Two appraisals on the building, which originally was an old armory drill hall, average $850,000.

Revenues from the city hall sale would go toward up to $2.5 million for the Cadence site.

Aldermen could make a decision at their Feb. 17 meeting on the city’s next move.
