COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — She took a while to decide, now Doctor Edna McGill wants to be the permanent Columbus Schools Superintendent. McGill has been the interim schools leader for nearly a year.

The deadline to apply is May 30th. A decision could be made by July first. McGill says she’ll work for her current salary, which is almost $40,000 less than the $175,000 set by the district.

Two years ago, McGill ran unsuccessfully for Lowndes County schools superintendent and then retired after a long career as a principal and administrator.
