AMORY, Miss. (WCBI) — A judge has ordered a an inspection of paper ballots in Amory’s failed Oct. 14 beer and liquor referendums.

Both beer and liquor failed by less than 100 votes, but some voters complained the ballot was unclear or that they didn’t see a place to vote on the beer question.

Final results show 205 fewer people voted on the beer than liquor issue. Those votes could be enough to change the outcome.

State law has no provision for ballot inspections, but the city did not object.

The inspection will take place Dec. 9.

Only City Clerk Lee Barnett and someone from the group Let’s Grow Amory will take part in the inspection.
