TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI)- WCBI received a statement from Kevin Curtis’ family Thursday.

It reads in part that the family is familiar with Kevin’s lengthy history of mental illness. The family also acknowledges Curtis’ struggle with Bipolar Disorder, but describes him as a loving, compassionate person who is highly intelligent. They also feel distraught about the charges Curtis now faces.

One of the startling things WCBI has learned about Curtis is his alleged hatred for North Mississippi Medical Center.

In a 6 page rant on ripoffreport.com, Curtis lashes out at the hospital, saying they fired him after he discovered a refrigerator full of body parts.

At the very end of his note, he wrote, “This is Kevin Curtis and I approve this report,” which is similar to the “This is KC and I approve this message” signature found at the end of President Obama’s and Senator Roger Wicker’s letters.

WCBI received a response today from North Mississippi Medical Center about Curtis’s background,

“Paul Kevin Curtis was employed by North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, Miss., from 1998 to 2000. He was not terminated in response to the allegations that he has made about NMMC. NMMC normally does not disclose personnel matters, but because of alleged actions that Mr. Curtis has taken against the President, a U.S. Senator, and a local judge, we are making an exception and acknowledging that he was terminated.”

In 2007, Curtis’ ex-wife reported to the Boonville Police Department that he was extremely delusional, anti-government and felt the government was spying on him with drones.

Wicker also spoke out about the incident, admitting he met the suspect before at a party he and his wife hosted nearly one decade ago. Curtis came to the party as an Elvis impersonator.
