VERNON, Al.(WCBI)–A group of Alabama teenager from Lamar High School are back from a trip to the National Fair held in the state capitol.

The Lamar High choral team and Ag Dairy group have trophy, ribbons, and bragging rights from their two day trip, to prove their success.

For the last five years students with the choral group have been making sweet music, those 32 students are just back from Montgomery after an excellent showing, competing in competition against 17 other schools.

“Just receiving all superiors, that was like the bonus on the cake really. Because it gave the chorus like a boost of confidence I think,” said Ali Glasgow/Choral Student.

Joining the choral group on the two day trip, 32 agricultural students with their chests stuck out just a little further, bringing home evidence of their success by the way of beautiful ribbons and trophy.

“Placed first in the 4-H Division in senior group. Placed second in the FFA group, and place also first in the junior dairy judging group this year,” said Carl Woods.

“It is just a feeling of success and pride cause it’s a once in a lifetime opportunity,” said Julia Irvin/Lamar High School.

And from what we understand, these big wins have become indicators over the years, as to the future successes of these students.

“All my dairy teams that have won state championships have finished college. All except for one, out of 26 years of competition. They are smart kids,” said Carl Woods.

Those students look forward to their travels to Kentucky, Wisconsin, and Missouri. And of course in this case, The capitol in Montgomery.
